This policy says what personal data Severoo collects, why, who handles it and how to have it corrected or deleted. The short version: we collect what we need to run and protect a free game server, and this website stores nothing in your browser except your theme choice.
Severoo is operated by Severoo, which is responsible for the data described here.
What we collect
- Your account email. The email address you sign up with. We do not ask for a credit card, so the free plan involves no payment details.
- IP addresses and logs. Our systems record IP addresses, times and technical details of connections to this website, to your account and to the game servers. These are the logs needed to run and protect the service.
- Server files. Whatever you upload to or create on your server: worlds, settings, plugins and mods. Your server's own logs are among these files, and game server software normally records the usernames and IP addresses of players who join.
- Support messages. When you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write. Never send your password.
Why we use it
- To provide the service: create your account, run your server and send you messages about them.
- To protect it: spot attacks, abuse and breaches of the acceptable use policy, such as one person opening several accounts to get around limits.
- To answer you when you ask for help.
- To meet legal duties, such as responding to a lawful request from an authority.
Who processes it
We do not run every machine and network ourselves. Companies that supply our infrastructure handle personal data for us so the service can work: the hosting and network providers that run the machines behind your server and this website, and the email provider that carries account and support messages. Some of them may be in a different country from yours.
We may also pass information to the authorities when the law requires it, or when that is needed to stop an attack or serious abuse.
Remember that a game server is reachable from the internet. Anyone who has its address can see its public status, such as its name and how many players are online.
Cookies and local storage
This website stores one thing in your browser: your light or dark theme choice, saved in local storage when you use the theme switch. It stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
To count visits and see how quickly pages load, this website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookieless: it does not use cookies or local storage and does not fingerprint visitors.
The tools on this site run in your browser, with one exception. The server status checker sends the server address you type to mcstatus.io, a separate lookup service, which sees your IP address as any site you contact does.
The control panel is a separate site. To keep you signed in, it has to store a sign-in cookie or token in your browser.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Your account email stays while your account exists. Server files stay until you delete them or the server is removed, which can happen when a server is not renewed (see the terms of service). Logs and support messages are kept for a limited time and then deleted, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse or to meet a legal duty.
Your rights: access, correct and delete
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your account and the data that goes with it.
Write to support@severoo.com from the email address on your account, so we know the request is yours. Deleting is permanent, so save a copy of any world you want to keep first. We may have to keep some records where the law requires it or where we need them to deal with abuse.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you more rights, such as objecting to a use of your data, getting a copy you can take elsewhere, or complaining to your data protection authority.
Children and teenagers
Many people who run a game server are teenagers. If the law where you live says you need a parent's or guardian's permission to use an online service like this one, you must have that permission before you create an account.
Parents and guardians can write to us to see, correct or delete their child's data. If we learn that we hold data from a child without the permission the law requires, we delete it.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. For a privacy question or request, email support@severoo.com. The contact page lists every other way to reach us.
