What every free game server includes
| Price | $0. No credit card, and it is not a trial. |
|---|---|
| RAM | Up to 6 GB |
| Storage | Up to 20 GB on NVMe SSD |
| Player slots | No cap. The practical limit is how many players your RAM can handle. |
| Uptime | Online 24/7 for as long as the server is renewed. It does not sleep when it is empty. |
| Renewal | One click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. It is due on a schedule that depends on your plan (every few hours on some plans). |
| Account credits | You collect credits for free by claiming them daily, using the site and running your server, and completing small tasks. Credits cannot be bought. Collected the normal way, they are enough to keep one server online all the time. |
| If you miss a renewal | A server that is not renewed is suspended first. If it is not re-enabled within 7 days, it is removed permanently. You can always create a new server afterwards. |
| Queue to start | None |
Full details are on the plans page.
The honest version
Is free game server hosting really free?
It can be, but never without a condition. Running a game server costs real money for memory and processor time, so a host that charges nothing has to limit something. In practice it is usually one of four things:
- Sleep. The server stops when the last player leaves and starts again when someone joins.
- A queue. You wait your turn before the server starts, longest at busy times.
- Renewals. The server runs on a timer and you confirm you still want it.
- Credits. You earn running time by watching ads or completing tasks.
We use renewals. A free server here does not go to sleep when the last player leaves, and it does not wait in a queue to start. It keeps running whether anyone is online or not, so friends can join when you are not playing yourself.
The condition is the renewal timer. Free capacity is limited, so every free server runs on a timer, and you renew it in your control panel before the timer runs out. Renewing is one click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. How often you need to do it depends on your plan: on some plans it is every few hours.
You collect credits for free by claiming them daily, using the site and running your server, and completing small tasks. Credits cannot be bought. Collected the normal way, they are enough to keep one server online all the time.
Check the interval on your plan before you count on the server being up overnight. A server that is not renewed is suspended first. If it is not re-enabled within 7 days, it is removed permanently. You can always create a new server afterwards. Removal is permanent, so keep your own copy of your world.
Whichever host you choose, find its answer to one question before you invite anyone: what happens to my server when nobody is playing?
Free host, free trial, your own PC or the cloud?
There are four ways to run a game server without paying. They suit different people.
| Route | Cost | Effort | The catch | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A free game server host | $0 | Low: sign up and start a server | Limited memory, and some condition for staying online (here: renewals, paid for with account credits that are free to collect) | A group of friends who want to play today |
| A free trial on a paid host | $0 for a few days, then a monthly price | Low | It ends. Many ask for a card, and the server is deleted or billed when the trial is over | Testing a paid host you already plan to pay for |
| Your own PC | Electricity | Medium: install the server, open a port or use a tunnel | Online only while your PC is on, and your home connection carries every player | Playing with a few friends when you are at the keyboard anyway |
| A free cloud virtual machine | $0 on an always-free tier | High: Linux, firewall rules and updates are yours to manage | A card is usually needed to sign up, and capacity is not guaranteed | People comfortable on a command line who want full control |
Hosting on your own machine is a perfectly good choice for a small group. How to host a Minecraft server on your PC walks through it, including the parts that go wrong.

Free game server hosting: questions and answers
Is free game server hosting really free?
Here, yes: the free plan is $0, needs no credit card and is not a trial. What you give in return is a renewal before your server's timer runs out, and renewing is one click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. Every free host limits something, so always check what a host asks of you before you build a world on it.
Which games can I host for free?
Today: Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. This page lists a game only when you can create a server for it right now.
Does a free game server stay online 24/7?
Yes, for as long as it is renewed. A free server here does not sleep when it is empty. See how renewals work.
How much RAM does a free game server get?
Up to 6 GB, with up to 20 GB of NVMe SSD storage. How far that goes depends on the game and on how many people play at once.
Can I host a server for a game that is not on the list?
Not yet. Only the games listed on this page can be hosted today. If you want one added, tell us which game and roughly how many of you would play.
Can I use a free server for a game I am developing?
No. These servers run the supported games only. For your own multiplayer game you need a general-purpose machine such as a cloud virtual machine, where you can install and run anything you like.
What is the difference between this and a free trial?
A trial ends after a few days and then costs money. The free plan here has no end date. It keeps running for as long as you keep renewing it.
