FalixNodes alternatives: 4 free Minecraft hosts compared

By the Severoo team Published 7 min read

In short

Falix's free plan stops 10 minutes after the last player leaves, checks in chat that you are still there, and is open in 40 countries only. AxentHost and Severoo keep an empty server running in return for a regular action from you. Minehut wakes a sleeping server when a player joins. If you live in a supported country and play in sessions, Falix is still a good fit.

On this page

We run Severoo, a free Minecraft server host, so this page about FalixNodes alternatives is not neutral: one of the alternatives is ours. Every fact about Falix and the other hosts comes from that host’s own website, read on the date shown under the table, with the sources linked there. We are not affiliated with Falix or with any other host named here.

Which Falix alternative suits you depends on which limit sent you looking. Falix’s free plan is strong on paper: 2.5 GB of shared RAM, 10 GB of NVMe storage and no cap on player slots. The reasons to look elsewhere are the limits Falix itself publishes. No free host removes all of them. Each one trades them for something else.

The limits Falix publishes for its free plan

Most of these are in the table above. The ads, the country list and the one-server limit have no row there: they come from Falix’s free plan page and its ad blocker help page. As of October 2026:

  • It stops when empty. A free server stops 10 minutes after the last player leaves. Anyone can restart it from the Start Server page.
  • Activity checks. At most once every three hours, a check appears in chat. A link must be clicked within 30 minutes to keep the server running.
  • Starts can queue. Starts may queue briefly when a free machine is busy.
  • Ads. The free plan is ad-funded, and ad blockers must be turned off for the panel.
  • No custom JAR files. Plugins, mods and modpacks install through built-in installers. Custom JAR files are paid only.
  • A country list. The free plan is open to players in 40 countries only, and free servers run in Europe.
  • One free server per account.

Which Falix alternative fixes which limit

The server stops when nobody is online

This limit has the clearest alternatives. Look at the “When nobody is playing” row of the table.

  • AxentHost has no idle sleep. A server runs while its credit balance lasts, then hibernates with a backup. Credits are free but claimed by hand: the website claim is 15 credits per hour, and a 2 GB server uses 10 credits per hour.
  • Severoo does not sleep when empty either. A free server stays online 24/7 as long as you renew it. Renewing is one click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. You collect credits by claiming them daily, using the site and running your server, and completing small tasks. You renew on a schedule that depends on your plan (every few hours on some plans).
  • Minehut sleeps when empty but wakes when a player joins, so nobody has to open a web page first.
  • Aternos does not fix this. Its servers stop when the last player leaves.

Be clear about the trade. Neither AxentHost nor Severoo is 24/7 with nothing to do. Each keeps the server up only while you keep doing something: claiming credits there, renewing here. Stop, and the server does not stay up. If you cannot check in that often, Minehut’s wake on join may suit your group better than either. Our guide to free 24/7 Minecraft server hosting compares these models side by side.

On Severoo, credits cannot be bought, and collecting them the normal way is enough to keep one server online all the time. It still has to be renewed on schedule: a server that is not renewed is suspended first. You have 7 days to re-enable it. After that it is removed permanently, and you can always create a new server. Because removal is permanent, keep your own copy of the world.

The activity check in chat

You can avoid the chat link, but something usually replaces it. The cells for Aternos and Minehut mention no activity check, and both say there is no playtime limit. The price is that both stop or sleep once the server is empty. AxentHost and Severoo swap the check for their own regular action, described above.

The start queue and the ads

On queues, the table is clear. AxentHost lists no start queue, and Severoo has no queue to start. Aternos queues when capacity is full. Minehut does not state it either way.

On ads, switching to one of the other three does not get you away from them. Aternos is ad-funded and asks visitors to turn off ad blockers. Minehut is ad-supported. AxentHost is ad-funded too, with optional rewarded ads in its mobile apps that earn extra credits and a Premium plan that removes ads.

Custom JAR files and uploads

Falix covers plugins, mods and modpacks through its installers and keeps custom JAR files for paid plans. Two alternatives say more about your own files: Minehut’s plugins are uploaded from the dashboard, and AxentHost lists a full file manager. Aternos does not change this: it has no custom plugin or mod uploads and no FTP.

On Severoo, plugins, mods and modpacks are allowed, and you pick from Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. If you have not chosen between a plugin server and a modded one yet, start with free Minecraft server hosting with plugins or free modded Minecraft server hosting.

The country list and the one-server limit

If Falix’s free plan is not open where you live, this is probably why you are here. The facts we collected for Aternos, Minehut and AxentHost record no country list, but we did not test sign-up from every country. Create an account and start a server before you plan around any of them.

Whichever host you try, join the server and play for ten minutes before you move a world over. How far you are from the server decides your ping, and only a test from your own connection shows it.

The facts we collected also do not cover how many free servers the other hosts allow per account. Check that on the host’s own site if you need a second server.

More RAM or storage

Two columns show a higher RAM figure than Falix’s 2.5 GB. AxentHost offers 2 to 16 GB, paid for with free credits at 5 credits per GB per hour. By that rate a 4 GB server would use 20 credits an hour (our arithmetic), more than the 15 an hour the website claim gives. Severoo gives a free server up to 6 GB of RAM. The “up to” matters: the amount depends on the plan, so read the plans and limits page first.

Aternos varies RAM by software and version (its example is 2,400 MB for Vanilla 1.20.1), and Minehut’s free plan has 1 GB. For storage, AxentHost goes up to 20 GB NVMe and Severoo offers up to 20 GB of NVMe SSD. Minehut matches Falix at 10 GB, and Aternos allows 4 GB.

Not sure how much you need? The Minecraft server RAM calculator gives a figure for your player count and mods.

What Falix does well

Falix earns its place on a shortlist. Going by its own pages:

  • A solid free spec. 2.5 GB of shared RAM, 10 GB of NVMe storage and no cap on player slots. That is two and a half times the RAM of Minehut’s free plan.
  • Friends can restart it. Anyone can start a stopped server from the Start Server page without an account. On hosts where only the owner can start the server, the group waits for one person.
  • Built-in installers. Plugins, mods and modpacks all install through installers Falix provides.
  • More than Minecraft. The same free plan runs Hytale, Terraria and Factorio servers. Of the other hosts here, Aternos adds Hytale, AxentHost lists 30+ games in total, and Minehut is Minecraft only.

Who should stay with Falix

Stay with Falix if most of these are true:

  • You live in one of the 40 supported countries, and a server in Europe gives you a ping you can play on.
  • Your group plays in sessions. Nobody needs the server up while it is empty.
  • Someone in the group will click the chat link when the activity check appears.
  • You can leave your ad blocker off for the panel.
  • The built-in installers have the plugins, mods or modpack you want.
  • You also want a Terraria, Factorio or Hytale server on the same plan.

If that describes you, switching hosts will mostly swap one condition for another.

Frequently asked questions

Which FalixNodes alternative should I pick?

It depends on the limit you want to get away from. If the server stopping when empty is the problem, look at AxentHost (no idle sleep while your free credits last) or Severoo (online 24/7 as long as you renew it). If you want friends to wake the server just by joining, look at Minehut, which has 1 GB of RAM and 10 player slots on its free plan. Aternos is free-only with no paid plan, but it also stops when the last player leaves.

Is Falix free?

Yes. Falix's own site describes a free plan funded by ads, with 2.5 GB of shared RAM, 10 GB of NVMe storage and unlimited player slots. Ad blockers must be turned off for its panel, the free plan is open to players in 40 countries only, and each account gets one free server. Falix also sells paid plans.

Does a free Falix server stay online 24/7?

No. Falix's site says a free server stops 10 minutes after the last player leaves, and anyone can restart it from the Start Server page. While people are playing, an activity check can appear in chat at most once every three hours, and a link must be clicked within 30 minutes to keep the server running.

Which free hosts keep a server online when nobody is playing?

Of the hosts on this page, two. AxentHost's site says there is no idle sleep: the server runs while its credit balance lasts, and credits are claimed by hand. A free Severoo server stays online 24/7 as long as you renew it. Renewing is one click, paid for with account credits that are free to collect. You renew on a schedule that depends on your plan (every few hours on some plans), and a server that is not renewed is suspended, then removed permanently if it is not re-enabled within 7 days. Both have a condition, so neither is 24/7 with nothing to do. Our guide to free 24/7 hosting compares the models.

Is the Falix free plan available in my country?

Falix's site says the free plan is open to players in 40 countries only, and that free servers run in Europe. Check Falix's own site for the current list. If your country is not on it, you need a different host for a free server.

Can I move my world from Falix to another host?

Usually, yes. A Minecraft world is a folder of files. Download it from your current server, then upload it to the new one, on the same edition and the same or a newer game version. Check the new host's storage limit first: Aternos allows 4 GB per server. The steps are in our guide on how to upload a world to a Minecraft server.
